PLAY FOOTBALL

Very few pieces. Easy to setup and play :

There are 2 teams: 

• the HOME team, and 
• the VISITOR team

 
Play Levels:

• The Beginner rules take about 10 to 15 minutes to learn.  
• The College-Football rules are more challenging.
• The Pro-Football rules can be as challenging to play as chess.

 There is a fair amount of strategy and some luck involved when using beginner (amateur) rules.  There is more strategy and less luck involved when using college-football rules. The pro-level of play requires a lot of strategy and virtually no luck, almost as difficult as chess.  A good pro-level player is someone who understands football strategy very well, like a coach or a quarterback.
 

Note: A basic knowledge of how to play American football is a prerequisite and common football terms will not be defined. 

      FOOTBALL FIELD & SCOREBOARD

Everything you need to play is on the game board:

• Football Field - The game is played on the field with the player pieces and football. The field is checkered in light and dark green grid cells
• Downs - The downs are tracked by both teams
• Scoreboard - The HOME and VISITOR team scores are on the side of the board 

Each team has 3 yard markers (3 red, 3 blue) that slide up and down the field and sidelines. Each team has 1 yard marker to keeps track of:

• The Line Of Scrimmage (LOS).  
• The Score on the Scoreboard 
• The Down Number 

Note: The game follows the "Home-Rules" convention such that the home team (owner of the game board) decides which rules are incorporated in the game, but the visiting team must be aware at the beginning of the game.  For example you can start with beginner rules but itemize which college and pro rules to incorporate.                           🏈 🏈 🏈 🏈
